Group looks to make abortion an election issue

Candidates could be lobbied

A group set up to reform what it believes are out-dated abortion laws on the Island says it will be looking to make the subject an election issue.

The Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation held its first meeting last night (Wednesday).

It already has more than 100 members in its online group and around 30 attended the meeting.

Founding member Sam Morris says they're wanting to move forward on two levels - raising awareness among the public and lobbying politicians and candidates in the general election.

She says the current laws regarding abortion on the Island are little understood.
