Health minister says 'more needs to be known' about Java cases

Customer at Douglas noodle bar contracts Covid-19

The health minister says more needs to be known about the situation at Java Coffee Shop and Noodle Bar, before action is taken.

The establishment was classed as low-risk after being visited by someone who since tested positive for Covid-19.

Now, another customer in Java at the same time has also returned a positive result.

David Ashford was asked whether classing the noodle bar as 'low risk' has given a false sense of security:

Government is now asking anyone in Java Coffee Shop and Noodle Bar between 12:30 and 13:30 on Tuesday, 16 February to self-isolate immediately.

Beth Espey spoke with Health Minister David Ashford  live on Manx Radio's Breakfast programme this morning, asking for his response to the Java case, the latest on the Steam Packet vaccines, and his views on kids returning to school after half term.
