Health worker loses dismissal case

Former Keys candidate to appeal

A former House of Keys election candidate who claimed she’d been sacked from Noble’s Hospital unfairly, plans to appeal after losing her claim for unfair dismissal.

Fifty-year old Michelle Inglis was diagnosed with cervical cancer two years ago and underwent treatment to remove the life-threatening cells.

The health worker, who was unsuccessful in September’s general election, opted to have a hysterectomy to lessen the need for further treatment, and was signed off work for six weeks.

She was told not to return.

A tribunal rejected her claim for unfair dismissal.

A judgment very critical of Ms Inglis highlights 'animosity' in the health department and a 'breakdown in trust and confidence' between her and colleagues which 'justified dismissal'.
