Diet and exercise good as statins
A combination of healthy lifestyle and appropriate medication is the best way to prevent illnesses like heart disease, according to the Island's Public Health Directorate.
It's after calls for fewer Manx patients to be put on statins.
The pros and cons of the cholesterol-lowering drugs - which are prescribed to around six million people in the UK - were the subject of a well-attended public debate in the capital last week.
NHS England estimates they prevent around 7,000 heart attacks and strokes every year, but there are concerns over potential side effects.
