Structure left in the 'open' position amid hot weather
The Department of Infrastructure says the hot weather has caused the metal superstructure to expand - something it says happens from 'time to time'.
When this is swung into the "closed" position - to allow motorists and pedestrians across - it catches the causeways at either side of the bridge.
Attempting to force it closed would risk damaging the bridge's mechanical gear, so it's currently been left open, allowing commercial and pleasure craft using Ramsey harbour to pass through.
The Harbours Division says it's monitoring the situation and will resume normal operations once the temperature drops and the metal contracts.
