HGV operators urged to register with committee

Operators could face fine if they miss registration deadline

HGV operators are being warned they face a fine of up to £10,000 if they don't register their businesses with the Road Transport Licensing Committee.

New regulations are being phased in this year, which will mean vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes are subject to stricter maintenance checks.

Registration is free until the end of the year, but those who miss the deadline will have to pay a fee and could be fined for not applying in time.

Forms can be downloaded from the RTLC's website.
