Mec Vannin looks past pomp and ceremony
This year's Tynwald Day was one of commemoration for Island politics.
It's 600 years since the introduction of the Customary Law Act - the earliest Manx statute in writing - and the 150th anniversary of popular parliamentary elections.
But it wasn't all celebrations.
The Mec Vannin party, which has long campaigned for the Isle of Man to assert its independence, set up its perennial stall at the gates of the festival site today.
