HMRC review 'insulting' to Treasury staff

Ex-Union head questions UK involvement

An ex-Union head says inviting UK tax officials to review the practice of importing business jets on Island is 'insulting' to the Manx Customs and Excise Division.

The Government has asked members of HM Treasury to conduct the assessment, after the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) made allegations of tax avoidance.

The claims have yet to be substantiated.

Meanwhile Manx Treasury officials are currently undertaking their own inquiry into the practice of jet importation.
