Home cleaning services scrapped by Health

Move expected to save £140,000

Home cleaning services provided to 122 people by Manx Home Care, have been scrapped by the Department of Health and Social Care.

The move is expected to save around £140,000 year, and will come in to effect from January next year when the contract with the current provider expires

The service was available to those eligible for income support, with an hour's worth of cleaning typically provided.

In the next six weeks the needs of those using the service will be assessed - health officials say they'll then be 'supported through the transition where necessary'.

It comes as part of the Department's ongoing efforts to reduce spending ahead of the upcoming budget.
