Hosepipe ban lifted by Manx Utilities

Rainy June replenishes reservoirs

The hosepipe ban introduced last month (5 June) has been lifted by Manx Utilities.

It's after late June saw reservoirs replenished with more than double the average amount of rain expected for that time of year.

Manx Utilities says it was forced to introduce the ban after the driest spring since 1984, as well as an increase in water use during this time.

Reservoir stocks are now 'sufficiently recovered' at 77 per cent of maximum capacity according to MU chair Tim Baker MHK.

The ban reduced water demand by an estimated 3 million litres per day.
