House of Keys and Tynwald to meet on same day

Coronavirus measures and climate change to be discussed

Amendments to Public Health Protection regulations relating to coronavirus measures, will be debated by Tynwald this morning.

That will be followed by a House of Keys sitting which will look in detail at the Climate Change Bill.

With the latest lockdown over, these can be face to face sessions.

MHKs will have the usual chance to pose questions to Ministers, before debate moves onto the clauses stage of the bill designed to mitigate the Island's role in climate change. There are a number of amendments being put forward.

Garff member Martyn Perkin's private member's measure on the Prohibition of Sky Lanterns and Balloons has also reached its clauses stage.

Before then, Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will ask members to allow the House to examine, in committee so witnesses can be called, issues raised in the Education Bill.

Tynwald sits from 10am, with the House of Keys due to meet shortly after.

You can follow coverage of both on Manx Radio's AM 1368 frequency, online, or on smart devices.

Meanwhile, the Legislative Council also sits following this morning's Tynwald business, with the Justice Reform Bill and Gas Regulation Bill among the items on the agenda for the upper chamber.
