House of Keys sits this morning

Raft of questions to start sitting

The House of Keys sits this morning with a packed paper of questions.

In total, there are 21 questions for spoken answer today, as well as another eight for written reply.

Topics range from Manx Gas, flooding at the National Sports Centre and the Eastern Area Plan, to a new bail hostel and the possibility of a Manx National Art Gallery.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran has almost half of those questions, while his LibVan colleague South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft has another five.

First on the order paper this morning is East Douglas MHK John Joughin who want to know whether the Castle Mona Hotel could become a national art gallery for the Island: he’ll quiz Chief Minister Allan Bell on the issue.

West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas will ask about the Office of Fair Trading’s deal with Manx Gas about the amount of profit it can make.

Two new bills will also be up for discussion after amendments were made by the Legislative Council - they deal with people in custody and building control.

You can hear live coverage of this morning’s Keys questions on Manx Radio’s AM1368 frequency, online at manxradio.com and via our mobile apps from 10am.

Legislative Council will also sit this morning from 10.30am, with third readings for two bills on its order paper.
