Hundreds brave cold for 'official' start of Christmas

Snow falls at Douglas Christmas light switch-on

The festive season has now 'officially' begun following the switch-on of the Douglas Christmas lights.

Hundreds braved the cold last night to take in the festive atmosphere, which saw the cast of this year's Gaiety panto, Peter Pan, the Douglas Town Band and the Platform Theatre School Vocal Ensemble all warming peoples spirits with classic Christmas tunes.

Mayor of Douglas Jon Joughin had the honour of switching on the Christmas lights.

At the end of the countdown, fireworks lit up the skies and even some snow began to fall:
