Ice strikes Island roads

Roads closed this morning

Freezing temperatures are causing problems on Manx roads this morning.

The Tholt-y-Will Road has been closed due to sheet ice causing dangerous conditions.

Police have also closed the A24 between Garth Crossroads and the Braaid Roundabout.

A similar situation has been reported on the Mountain Road at its junction with the Creg ny Baa Back Road, although both routes remain open.

Conditions are also hazardous at Richmond Hill in Douglas, The Blackboards, and in some low-lying areas.

Gritters have been deployed to badly affected routes.

Police are urging motorists to take care.
