Increased support needed for adopters, says DHSC minister

Proposed adoption law changes 'could lead to more placements'

Support for those who've been through adoption is needed on the Isle of Man.

That's the view of Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford, as his department seeks feedback from the public on plans to update the Island's adoption laws.

More than 50 responses have been submitted since the consultation opened.

Just seven children from off Island have been placed with Manx families since 2015, but Mr Ashford says the proposed changes could lead to an increase in adoptions:

You can find full details of the proposals at the government's online consultation hub, with responses being accepted until 23 October.
