Information Commissioner to stand for third term

Subject to Tynwald approval, Mr McDonald will begin his last term

The Information Commissioner's appointment is due to go before Tynwald.

Iain McDonald's re-appointment is scheduled to go before the December sitting of the court.

If approved, he will take on his third five-year term.

His job is to regulate the Island's information rights, including regulations under the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.

Three terms of five years each is the longest anyone can stay in the role.
