Inquest hears Onchan man died of natural causes

Twenty-four-year-old Steven Green died suddenly in March

A verdict of natural causes was reached at the inquest of an Onchan man this afternoon.

Twenty-four-year-old labourer Steven Michael Green died suddenly in March earlier this year.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham it was an awful shock.

Mr Green had complained of feeling unwell shortly after getting up on the morning of Sunday March 1st.

The court heard how, during a family discussion, he touched his head before collapsing at around 1.30pm in his home on Nursery Avenue, Onchan.

The emergency services arrived and performed CPR on Mr Green before taking him to the Intensive Care Unit at Nobles Hospital.

He was treated immediately however his condition was too unstable to transfer him to a specialist care unit in Liverpool and he died on March 2 2015.

Mr Needham commended Mr Green's family for their 'brave and selfless decision' to donate his organs.

The cause of death was recorded as a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage as a result of a ruptured brain aneurysm.

Mr Green's father and stepdad asked Mr Needham to pass on the family's thanks to Nobles Hospital staff - especially the Intensive Care Unit - who they said were 'absolutely fantastic'.
