Interceptions up as criminals use postal service to send drugs

Covid pandemic has not stopped illicit substances being sent

Police have reported a 57 per cent increase in drug interceptions whilst the Island's borders have been closed.

Superintendent Steven Maddocks says the Covid pandemic has not stopped the illegal supply of controlled drugs or cash:

On Monday – to coincide with the travel restrictions relaxing - officers will launch Operation Strongbox.

Undercover and uniformed officers will be monitoring the Island's ports as well as continuing to police the postal and freight services.
