IOM needs to capitalise on 'quirky' events

DED says being different is key to rising visitor numbers

Showcasing what is different about the Isle of Man is key to drawing in more visitors, according to the Head of Tourism.

Latest figures show visitor number rose in 2015 by 3.8% to well over 287,000.

Of the total, almost 130,000 were leisure guests. 

The Isle of Man passenger survey revealed tourists spent around £108.8m during the year, including travel and accomodation.

The Department of Economic Development's Angela Byrne says the Island has a lot to offer, but needs to focus more on its unique selling points:
