Speaking to residents as ATM use declines in the UK
Some Manx residents say they're sticking with cash, as figures from the UK show a decline in the number of people using ATMs.
Research from ATM and cash access network Link shows adults across the water made an average of 15 trips to cash machines last year.
People typically withdrew a total of £1,352 across 2025; a five percent decrease compared with an average of £1,424 withdrawn across 2024.
And in total, people over the age of 16 made 832 million cash withdrawals last year, which was around nine per cent less than in 2024.
Banks are not backward in noticing trends and acting on them; we already have towns on the Island without ATMs.
So, is the age of the cash machine coming to a close?
