Island family 'devastated' after brutal murder

Elderly couple stabbed in their home

An Island family say they are devastated after the brutal murder of relatives in Northern Ireland.

Michael and Marjorie Cawdery were stabbed to death at their home in Portadown last Friday.

A 40 year-old man, Thomas McEntee, was yesterday charged with murdering the elderly couple and was remanded in custody.

Mike and Marjorie Cawdrey loved the Isle of Man and visited for many holidays with Brian and Sally Leahy, Michael’s sister.

When the Leahys made the Island their home in 1964, an affinity with Manx shores was well and truly established.

They spent lots of time in the Isle of Man and spoke weekly to family members here.

Described as a devoted couple whose lives revolved around their family – they had three children and three grandchildren.

The Leahy family in the Island say they are all devastated by this violent and senseless attack which has ripped a gentle, loving couple from their family.

They’re requesting privacy at a sad and tragic time.
