Island fire stations pay tribute to WW1 victims

Public invited to Last Post at 7pm

Fire stations across the Island will open their doors this evening to remember the victims of World War One.

The tribute marks the 30,000th performance of the daily Last Post bugle call at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium.

At 7pm all the fire stations in the Island will join an international act of remembrance.

The ceremony will include a reading of a commemorative text followed by a moment of silence.

Chief Fire Officer Kevin Groom says it's an important occasion

All members of the public are invited to attend 6.45pm for the Last Post to be sounded at 7pm.
