The Isle of Man has no plans to follow the UK and introduce specific legislation focussed around meeting the needs of people with Down syndrome.
Instead the health and social care minister has confirmed it’s something which is likely to be looked at as part of a new Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Bill which is due in 2024.
Douglas North MHK David Ashford wanted to know if the Island would replicate the Down Syndrome Act 2022 which received royal assent in April.
