Island honours its war dead

The Island has fallen silent to honour its war dead.

Members of the public have paused to reflect on those who died in the service of their country in two world wars and other global conflicts.

The two minutes' silence at 11am was observed around the Island, including at war memorials, work places and schools.

The silence took place at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - the time the guns fell silent along the Western Front in 1918, and an armistice was declared.
