Island hosts British-Irish Council environment summit

Politicians and officials from across the British Isles have taken part in an environmental summit hosted in the Isle of Man.

The British-Irish Council's Environment Group has been discussing a range of topics, including biodiversity and the impact of non-native species.

The Council comprises the governments of the UK, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.

Each jurisdiction sent a delegation to the meeting in Douglas, hosted by DEFA minister Richard Ronan.

Mr Ronan said the event provided an opportunity to discuss  approaches to environmental challenges and share ideas and strategies on managing natural resources.
