Israeli scholar to deliver lecture
The Island's Jewish community is marking a landmark centenary tonight in Douglas.
Dr Moriel Ram will address an audience at the Claremont Hotel 100 years on from the Balfour Declaration, which established Britain's support for the creation of a Jewish nation-state in the Middle East.
Theresa May has spent the week hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Downing Street - while Palestinian representatives called on the government there to apologise for its predecessors' actions in 1917 and beyond.
Tonight's talk starts at 7pm and is open to all.
Dr Ram, a post-doctorate fellow at Ben Gurion University and associate at University College London, says the whole world can learn from what happened then.
