Treasury minister discusses potential changes to indefinite leave to remain rules
The treasury minister says the Island values migrants who moved here "in good faith" ahead of potential changes to the UK's visa system.
The Home Office there is considering changes which could see the minimum time a person must live in the UK before applying for indefinite leave to remain increase from five to 10 years.
Chris Thomas confirmed in this week's sitting of the House of Keys that no talks have taken place yet over a separate pathway for the Isle of Man.
Backbenchers raised concern about what this could mean for those who are already on the Island, and whether it's fair that they could face a longer wait before receiving indefinite leave to remain.
