Islanders flock to agricultural show

Mammoth queues were seen near the venue outside Castletown

Numbers exceed expectations

Early indications suggest around 12,500 people attended the Southern District Agricultural Show at the weekend.

That figure far exceeds the 10,000 attendees organisers were expecting.

A limousin heifer owned by Tom and Lee Cain was crowned Supreme Champion at the event at Great Meadow.

Simon Clarke, who presents Manx Radio's Countryside programme, says the show remains a popular date in the calendar.
