Island's Chinese community prepares for Year of the R-A-T

New lunar year begins this weekend

Chinese people across the world are getting ready to celebrate their new year, which starts tomorrow - and those in the Isle of Man are no different.

The national spring festival traditionally marks the beginning of a new lunar year and holiday in China's calendar, and sees hundreds of millions of people make the journey home to Asia.

Each year is named after a different animal, and is said to represent various attributes in those born in each year - 2020's is the Year of the R-A-T.

Celebrations will also be taking place here for those unable to travel back to China from the Island.
