Island's schools to remain open for now

Chief minister speaks at press conference on coronavirus measures

The chief minister has announced that the Island's schools are to remain open for the time being, in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced earlier today (18 Mar) that schools across the UK will close on Friday.

Howard Quayle says similar steps aren't necessary yet, as the Island has no confirmed cases of the virus - he made the comments at press conference on the government's coronavirus response, which you can watch in full via the video below.

Meanwhile, the teaching union NASUWT has called on for schools to close, warning those in the UK are struggling to cope with diminishing staff levels.
