Government says 'proportionate' response to threat of Omicron
The Isle of Man has been placed at 'Alert Level 2' with a warning a new strain of Covid-19 will arrive here 'sooner rather than later'.
The chief minister has confirmed government is increasing 'national mitigations' in response to the threat of Omicron:
Face coverings are being made mandatory on public transport, and in health and care settings, and changes are being made at the border.
These will come into force at 4am on Tuesday, 30 November.
Alfred Cannan says the 'proportionate' response should act as an additional barrier to the entry of the variant.
Twenty-two people who have travelled to the Island from southern Africa, in the last 10 days, have been contacted and those still here have agreed to undergo testing.
So far all of the test results have been negative for Covid-19.
