Keys set for short meeting

Urgent question on rising energy prices to be put to Treasury Minister

The House of Keys members meet this morning (22 March) for what should be a relatively brief gathering.

There are nine questions - including an urgent one - to answer, and the Income Tax Bill is down for its third reading.

An urgent query has been lodged by Arbory, Castletown & Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.

He'll ask the Treasury Minister what the Council of Ministers and Manx Utilities are doing are doing to reduce the impact of recent increases in wholesale gas prices.

Mr Moorhouse also wants to know how much this will cost taxpayers, what effect will it have on government debt and also if the minister will make a statement on the matter.

Questions for specific answers include the standard heating setting for government buildings, and how much it costs to run the National Sports Centre (NSC) pool.

Other queries surround if there will be enough marshals and hospital capacity for TT, as well as efforts to promote the Island to graduates as a place to work and train.

The sitting is due to get underway at Legislative Buildings from 10am.
