Getting an ambulance crew down to the beach proved tricky, but he eventually taken to hospital.

Knight, who praised the medical staff at Nobles, said the injuries will probably slow him down for a bit, but is fully motivated to get back and be as strong as possible.

Taking to instagram Knight who received an MBE from the Queen in 2011, said he was 'disappointed this has happened when I have felt so strong and motivated but most of all I feel very, very lucky that I’ll make a full recovery as it could easily have been a very different story'
