Small decrease in number of people out of work
There's been a small decrease in the number of people out of work, according to the latest labour market report, but also a big drop in the number of vacancies.
The figures for December 2025 show 248 job vacancies remained at the Job Centre; a decrease of 143 compared to the previous month.
Overall, 260 people were registered unemployed - nine fewer than November - of which 168 are male and 92 female.
In terms of vacancies compared to November last year, there were 70 fewer jobs on offer in the healthcare sector in December with just 30 available.
Miscellaneous services is marked as the sector with the highest number of unemployed persons at 69, with catering and entertainment second with 32.
