Lib Van leader seeks Steam Packet purchase answers

Seven questions about issue in Keys

South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft dominates today's House of Keys question paper.

She's asking 13 of the 21 for oral answer, seven of which are about government's purchase of the Steam Packet.

Among her queries are what other options were considered and which reserve funds were used to pay for the Packet

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse has questions on the cost of the SAVE programme to date, how the education department's performance is assessed, and how investigations into school teachers' behaviour are carried out.

And Onchan MHK Julie Edge will ask the treasury minister what the policy is in relation to commercial confidentiality when it comes to government sales, purchases or contracts.

Away from the question paper, a bill which aims to update Manx laws governing communications (including social media and other online activity) gets its first reading.

Meanwhile, the Abortion Reform Bill is at the clauses stage in the Legislative Council.

You can hear coverage of House of Keys questions on Manx Radio's AM1368 frequency, and via the AM player at manxradio.com and the smartphone apps from 10am.
