Lifeboat rescues young cliff jumper

Peel lifeboat was launched on Monday afternoon to rescue a child who injured themselves jumping into the sea off the Island’s west coast.

At 4.30pm, the Ruby Clery was called out to the rocks at the back of Peel Castle.

A young boy dislocated his shoulder while ‘tombstoning’ into the water and was unable to clamber back up the cliffs.

Two crewmen from the lifeboat launched the inflatable dingy and rowed into the rocks from the lifeboat.

The boy was taken ashore by the crew to Fenella Beach, where a coastguard team was waiting.

He was taken to Noble’s Hospital for treatment.
