Light issues behind New Year's Eve train incident

Crash resulted in minor damage

One of the Island's steam trains suffered minor damage after it collided with a tree on New Year's Eve.

Details have been revealed by the Department of Infrastructure after a Freedom of Information request.

The incident happened at Ballabeg, after two lamps failed earlier in the journey - an LED torch strip was being used at the time.

A number of windows on the front carriages were broken, beading was damaged and some door handles were damaged, an oil can was crushed, there was a small scratch on the loco tank and a dent in one of the steam pipes.
