A proposal for a "living wage" would not be appropriate as part of the work permit process.
That's according to the Minister for Economic Development.
The issue came up in Tynwald yesterday (Tuesday, April 21st) following a question from Onchan MHK Peter Karran, who wanted to know if work permits should be available only for jobs which pay at least a "living wage"?
Laurence Skelly says there is no clear definition of just what that figure may be:
Manx patients will be contacted if appointments are impacted by UK strikes
Flu jab availability varying 'from pharmacy to pharmacy'
Police issue assurance amid concerns from Island's Jewish community
MHK calls for government to use more Manx food and drink
