Local person dies following incident in Ramsey

Another local arrested as murder investigation launched

A local person has died following a serious incident in Ramsey today (29 May), the Isle of Man Constabulary has confirmed.

The news comes after police officers attended an incident in the area of Close Drean at 3.38pm this afternoon.

Authorities have also confirmed another local has been arrested in connection with the matter and a murder investigation has been launched.

The constabulary adds this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is nothing to suggest that the general public are at any further risk.

The area of Close Drean has now been designated as a crime scene and a cordon is in place to allow investigations to take place.

Members of the public are being asked not to speculate on the matter and avoid sharing any imagery, other than with Police.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has information regarding the incident is asked to contact Police Headquarters on 631 212 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The constabulary is also in the process of setting up an online portal where the public will be able to upload information and any footage that is believed to be in the community.

The full statement from the Isle of Man Constabulary reads as follows:

"At 3.38pm on Thursday 29th May 2025, Police officers responded to an incident in the area of Close Drean, Ramsey. Despite immediate medical intervention by officers, members of the public and other emergency services at the scene, a local victim has tragically died and a murder investigation has been launched by the Isle of Man Constabulary.

"A local person has been arrested in connection with the investigation. This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is nothing to suggest that the general public are at any further risk.

"Police have designated the area of Close Drean as a crime scene and a cordon is in place to allow the necessary investigations to take place. We are aware of the impact that this may cause and appreciate the public’s understanding and support at this time. We would really appreciate it if members of the community would refrain from speculating in respect of this matter and avoid sharing any imagery, other than with Police.

"Police are currently in the process of setting up an online portal where the public will be able to upload information and any footage that is believed to be in the community."
