MLC's view on Tynwald debate
The Island may lose the diocese of Sodor and Mann altogether if the Lord Bishop loses his vote on the Legislative Council - that's the view of MLC Geoff Corkish.
He says the Manx bishopric is one of the oldest in the Anglican communion, and enhances the status of the Island.
The future of the Lord Bishop's role in the national parliament was debated by Tynwald last week as it considered the Lisvane Report, and will be reviewed again later this year.
Mr Corkish says previous incumbents have helped guide the Court on moral issues, and acted as an 'independent voice'.
He told Manx Radio Tynwald stands to lose a lot by denying the bishop a vote.
