Department is £2.2 million over budget
Major incidents in 2023 and the high cost of energy have been blamed for a £2 million overspend in the Department of Home Affairs.
Tynwald will be asked to approve a supplementary vote at next month’s sitting of the court in order for the department – and three others – to be brought in on, or just under, budget by 31 March.

Minister Jane Poole-Wilson has told Manx Radio bad weather, and unexpected events, have contributed to an overtime bill which the department couldn’t meet within its existing funding allocation.
And she says hers is one of only two departments which has to meet its own energy bills:
