Mr Nguyen bailed after admitting possessing drug
A man carrying more than £1,000-worth of cannabis was caught out when police stopped his car for a routine check.
Twenty-three-year-old Bryan Wai Kin Nam Trong Nguyen of Christian Road in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted possessing cannabis on Glencrutchery Road in Douglas on 15 September.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing police were doing roadside checks on cars with UK registrations when they saw Nguyen in a white Mercedes.
When he pulled over to speak to officers, they smelled cannabis and asked to search him and his car.
Inside, they found 56 grammes of cannabis with a street value of around £1,100.
He told police he’d paid £500 for the drugs, and they were for his own personal use.
Magistrates granted him bail in the sum of £500, and he’s next due to appear in court for sentencing on 15 October.
