Douglas man to be sentenced after admitting heroin possession

Police found 18 grammes of class A drug

A man's been committed to the Island’s higher criminal court for sentencing after admitting having 18 grammes of heroin.

35 year old Craig William Tiernan of Peveril Street in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

He admitted two counts of possessing drugs with intent to supply them and one of possessing criminal property.

The court heard when police searched an address in Woodbourne Square in Douglas on June 13, they found heroin, prescription drug pregabalin and a large quantity of cash.

Mrs Hughes said given the street value of the drugs involved, her sentencing powers were insufficient to deal with Tiernan.

She committed him to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, where he'll be sentenced on July 29.

Tiernan was remanded in custody until that date.
