Twenty-eight-year-old pleads not guilty at Douglas courthouse
A court’s heard a man’s alleged to have used a shower rail to beat his girlfriend as she begged him to stop.
Twenty-eight-year-old Kristopher Robert Goldie of Poortown in Peel appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He pleaded not guilty to assault, criminal damage and using provoking behaviour as well as two charges of destroying property on 26 July.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain told the hearing Mr Goldie was at his partner’s home in West View in Peel when he turned violent at around midnight.
The court heard he ran a shower but smashed a soap dispenser – when his girlfriend intervened he hit her around the face, body and legs.
Mr Swain told the hearing Mr Goldie took a shower rail and hit the woman on the legs seven or eight times.
Defence advocate Steve Wood said Mr Goldie didn’t accept the facts “for a minute”.
Mr Goldie was bailed in the sum of £500, with conditions banning him from buying alcohol, entering licensed premises, contacting his ex-girlfriend or entering West View in Peel.
He’ll also have to observe a 9pm to 7am curfew.
