Council and MDHC want it to go to Waterloo
The Steam Packet’s fastcraft, Manannan, has begun her summer services between the Isle of Man and Merseyside today – but it could be her last year docking at Liverpool’s Pier Head.
Liverpool City Council and the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company say they want to move the Steam Packet’s berth from its long-standing home at Princes Dock landing stage to a more northerly location at Waterloo.
Peel Ports, owned by Manx-based businessman John Whittaker, is to start work on its £5.5 billion Liverpool Waters scheme next year.
But Steam Packet Chief Executive Mark Woodward says the decision to move the company’s mooring isn’t related to that project:
