E-commerce site recognises Isle of Man as a supported location

Isle of Man businesses will now be able to sell their goods globally through Etsy.

Previously, Manx businesses were restricted from selling on the site due to the marketplace's in-house payment system.

Etsy payments was introduced by the e-commerce site in 2017 as it wanted to move away from third parties such as PayPal.

As a consequence, the Isle of Man was not listed as a 'supported location'.

Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston says: "This is a great outcome for our local businesses.

"Particularly those in the creative and small business sectors who can now reach millions of new customers around the world through Etsy."

Elsewhere, there has also been progress with Google's location services.

Following engagement with Google and collaboration with the Cabinet Office and UK departments, the Isle of Man is now recognised as a supported location for app development.

This means developers can now publish apps directly onto Google's Play Store under the Isle of Man.
