Manx Gas to review standing charges

'Constructive' meeting with Treasury minister

Bosses at Manx Gas say they'll look again at their standing charge structure, in the wake of last week's public protests.

The energy company has committed to a comprehensive review of the banding system, after meeting Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan earler today (25 Sept).

He requested Manx Gas review his own research on the charges and report back to the Treasury and the Office of Fair Trading, by the end of October.

Last week a demonstration was held outside Legislative Buildings and the company's headquarters in Douglas in protest against what some say are 'unaffordable' gas bills.

Manx Gas director Robert Gardner says the company will respond by the end of next month, and meanwhile will continue listening to all customer feedback.
