Manx Labour candidate to stand for council in Douglas East

Election to take place on 23 April

Devon Watson has declared his intention to stand in the Douglas Council general election later this year.

He's hoping to serve the Douglas East constituency as he aims to be re-elected for a second term in office.

The poll will take place on the 23 April with the size of the authority being reduced from 18 councillors to 12.

Mr Watson's current Derby Ward region will also cease to exist in the next term, as boundary changes see the council mirror House of Keys constituencies.

The Manx Labour candidate was first elected on 15 October last year as he topped the poll in a by-election.

He's now announced his intention to serve a full term, with affordable housing and tackling climate change among his priorities.

The 25-year-old says 'eliminating wasteful expenditure' and 'modernising public services' are other issues high on his agenda.
