Praise for 'dedicated' Rowan
An expedition researching the effects of plastic pollution in the Pacific has praised the role of its Manx crew member.
Marine biologist Rowan Henthorn, who is one of two scientists on board the Sea Dragon, has been described as incredibly dedicated and an 'asset' to the crew.
Rowan, who advises the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture on the issue of marine debris, is collecting samples of sea water for plastic fragments through the means of mantra trawling.
The voyage comprised of 23 women has had 15 days sailing across the North Pacific and is currently 370 miles off the coast of Oregon.
Speaking to Manx Radio via satellite phone, Rowan spoke of her findings:
