Selfless action of gendarme to save others
Police on the Island have paid tribute to a fellow officer in France who has died from injuries sustained in yesterday's (Fri) terrorist attack.
The French officer volunteered himself as a hostage in order to free a woman who was being used as a human shield in a supermarket siege.
Taking to Twitter, the Island force said it was incredibly sad to hear that Lt Col Arnaud Beltrame who selflessly exchanged himself for a hostage in the terrorist siege yesterday, had passed away.
They say their thoughts are with colleagues in France and Lt Beltrame's family and friends.
